Torridge Volunteer Centre Achieves National Accreditation

  • Published on Jun 3, 2016

Here at TTVS we are not only celebrating Volunteers’ Week this week but we are also celebrating achieving a national accreditation.

Managed by TTVS,  Torridge Volunteer Centre has been awarded a national quality mark. Our Volunteer Centre, based in Bideford,  provides information, support and training to Torridge residents who want to volunteer in local charities and community groups. We also support local organisations who want to recruit volunteers, need help and advice to develop new roles, introduce or update policies and procedures or require training.

We have, for the third time, renewed our Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation (VCQA) standard from the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).

The award of this accreditation demonstrates that our Volunteer Centre has a proven track record which is nationally recognised. The NCVO VCQA is a mark of consistent quality and demonstrates that we are committed to adhering to NCVO’s high standards and to effectively promoting and supporting volunteering and social action related activity in Torridge. VCQA allows TTVS to use the national Volunteer Centre brand at its Centre.

Julia Lock, TTVS Chief Executive said:

“We are thrilled to gain this external recognition of the great work that our team is undertaking, especially in difficult and testing times both in terms of funding and the demand on our services. We are now one of only two accredited centres in the whole of Devon and the fact that so many people are still contacting us to get involved in voluntary work says a great deal about the generosity and community spirit of local people.”

    NCVO said:

“Accreditation provides assurance to commissioners and funders, as well as members of the public and volunteer involving organisations, that Volunteer Centres are providing a high quality and effective service.”

    Volunteers’ Week 1 – 12 June
To celebrate Volunteers’ Week, the TTVS Volunteer Centre team are holding their regular Volunteer Managers Forum, offering voluntary and community groups interesting and informative speakers and an opportunity to network and share information. There will also be a volunteer’s tea party on the 9th June, an opportunity to say thank you to volunteers and to give them the recognition that they deserve.
