National Volunteers Week 2019

  • Published on Jun 16, 2019

National Volunteers Week runs from 1st – 7th June and is an opportunity to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. Volunteers are often unsung heroes in the community and this is an opportunity for volunteers across Torridge to be praised for the important work they do.

We held a celebration event, kindly sponsored by Devon & Cornwall Police, at Bideford Rugby Club on Wednesday 5th June 2019. Volunteers from all over Torridge were nominated by their groups or peers and invited to attend the event.

The new Bideford Mayor Peter Christie kindly came along to present the volunteers with their certificates. After the ceremony, Bideford Co-op staff volunteered their time to serve cream teas, which had been generously donated by their store.

Jane Creese, from our Volunteer Centre “I plan this event every year, it is so important to take the time to thank and acknowledge the amazing commitment of every volunteer and the difference they make to our community”.
