TTC Sitting Service
This well established service has been running since 1996 and is an approved local provider of Take a Break. The Sitting Service uses sensitive, well-trained carer response workers.
TTC undertakes a full assessment of each new referral to the service to ensure that the needs of the Carer and person for whom they care are appropriately met. The needs of the cared for person, the time, duration and frequency of the service will be established during this assessment. Each period of carer relief/sitting will be monitored by TTC to establish whether the carer and cared for were happy with the service provided and in order to maintain the highest quality standard.
Take a Break
If you are a Carer and register with Carers Link, you are entitled to take advantage of the Take a Break Scheme that entitles you to up to 36 hours paid respite support every three months. Devon County Council and the Devon Primary Care Trust fund the Take a Break service so that Carers only need to contribute £3.00 per hour to receive this service. Please note there is a waiting list over which TTC has no control.
Dementia Services
This project will help and support the development of local services for older people living with dementia. This may include the support of existing Memory Cafes, the creation of more Memory Cafes and similar memory-related services, and the setting up of Carer Support groups for those caring for an older person with dementia. The Sitting Service will provide specialist respite provision, tailored to the needs of someone living with dementia. In order to provide this service, it will be necessary to obtain and record information on computer about our clients. This information is confidential and will not be passed to any other agency without the client’s agreement. The security of client information is of paramount importance to TTC.
