On Tuesday 14/07/26, residents at The Lighthouse in Bideford took part in their first cooking lesson, learning how to prepare cost-effective , nutritious , and healthy meals to support their recovery journey.
The session focused on healthy eating , budgeting , and developing practical cooking skills that residents can use independently. By learning to create simple, affordable, and nutritious meals, participants are gaining valuable knowledge that promotes both physical wellbeing and long-term recovery .
This is an important part of The Lighthouse Programme, helping residents build confidence , independence , and healthier lifestyle habits for the future. Every new skill learned is another positive step forward on the road to recovery .
A huge well done to everyone who took part today!
There will be a series of these cooking lessons every Tuesday at Harbour provided by a member of our peer mentor team one of whom is a qualified chef, also in recovery, and a member of TTVS's Peer Mentor Team. Looking forward to next week's session.
